School Closure Reminders

We would like to provide you with the necessary information regarding school closures due to inclement weather and how you can expect to be notified.

As we enter the winter months, Kaneland School District would like to provide you with the necessary information regarding school closures due to inclement weather and how you can expect to be notified. We are closely monitoring the developing weather conditions, but we do not anticipate any changes to the students' schedules at this time.

Emergency Day:

  •  If the announcement comes after 8:00 p.m. or on the morning of, it will be a snow or extreme heat day with no classes, and the day will be made up at the end of the school year.

E-Learning:

  • If the announcement comes before 8:00 p.m. the night before, students and staff will have an E-Learning day and work remotely.

Communications:

  • Emergency Day announcements will be made by 5:30 a.m. on the day of closure or by 9:00 p.m. the night before when possible.
  • E-Learning announcements will be made before 8:00 p.m. the night before.
  • Email, text, and phone call notifications will be sent via the Infinite Campus platform.

  • School closure updates will also be posted on our district website and social media accounts.

Activities, Practice, and Transportation during School Closures:

  • All school practices, competitions, and activities may also be canceled in the event of an emergency day OR E-Learning.
  • Kaneland transportation and transportation providers will NOT transport students to alternative programs on closure days.
  • Parents are welcome to drive their students to school if those programs remain open.
  • The Sugar Grove Park District follows the district calendar, so there will be no before-school or after-school CARE.

Parent Choice:

If schools remain open, parents always have the option to excuse their child if they feel conditions are unsafe.
